This month, we’re proud to spotlight City SC NOCO. We sat down with Adam Zayed, City SC NOCO Technical Director, to learn more about the club’s community, recent successes, and what the future holds as part of the City SC Affiliate Network.
Q: Tell us about your club and community. What makes your club unique, and what are you most proud of as an organization?
A: City SC NOCO is built around providing players in Northern Colorado with a high-quality environment where they can develop, compete, and enjoy the game. What makes our club unique is the community behind it and the pathway we are continuing to build for players at every level.
We want our players to feel challenged, supported, and like they genuinely belong to something. I’m most proud of the people within our club and the direction we’re heading. We have ambitious goals, but ultimately, we want to develop better players and better people on and off the field.
Q: What has been the biggest benefit of being part of the City SC Affiliate Network?
A: The biggest benefit has been feeling connected to something bigger than just our own club. Being part of the City SC Affiliate Network gives our players and coaches access to more opportunities, shared resources, different ideas, and relationships across the wider City SC network. For us, it’s about learning from each other and using those connections to continue improving the environment and opportunities we provide for our players in Northern Colorado.
Q: Looking back over the past year, what accomplishments or milestones are you most proud of?
A: One of the biggest things we’re proud of from the past year is seeing our teams compete and represent Northern Colorado at a national level. Our U17 Girls qualified for DPL Nationals, while our U14 and U19 Boys both qualified for EA Nationals.
Those are fantastic accomplishments for the players and coaches involved, but they also show the continued growth of the club and the direction we’re heading. We want to keep creating opportunities for our players to challenge themselves, compete at a high level, and have experiences they’ll remember.
Q: How has the City SC Network helped create opportunities for your players, coaches, and families?
A: The City SC Network has opened up opportunities that extend beyond what we can provide locally in Northern Colorado. Our players have access to different environments, events, identification opportunities, and connections across the wider network, while our coaches are able to share ideas and learn from other coaches and leaders within City SC.
For our families, it provides confidence that there is a bigger pathway and network behind what we’re building locally. Ultimately, it allows us to give our players and coaches more experiences and opportunities while still maintaining the strong community we have here in Northern Colorado.
Q: What initiatives, events, or experiences has your club hosted or participated in recently that have had a positive impact on your players and community?
A: One initiative we’re really excited about is our club-wide preseason kickoff event on July 31st. We’re bringing players, coaches, and families from across the club together before the new season for an evening centered around soccer, fun, and building relationships.
For us, events like this are important because we want City SC NOCO to feel like more than just individual teams. We want our youngest players through to our oldest players to feel connected to the club, get to know each other, and have a real sense of belonging within our community. It’s a great way to bring everyone together and kick off the new season as one club.
Q: Looking ahead, what are you most excited about for the future of your club and your partnership within the City SC network?
A: I’m really excited about where the club is heading and the opportunities we can continue to create for players in Northern Colorado. We want to keep strengthening our player pathway, raising the standards of our environment, and giving players opportunities to challenge themselves at the highest level possible.
Being part of the City SC network gives us an opportunity to think bigger. We can continue learning from other clubs, connecting our coaches and players with new experiences, and creating opportunities beyond Northern Colorado. There’s a lot of potential within our club and our community, and I’m excited to see where we can take it over the next few years.
Q: What are your goals and priorities for the upcoming season, and what excites you most about the future of your club?
A: Our biggest priority for the upcoming season is continuing to raise standards across the club while creating a consistent, player-centered environment. We want clear alignment across our teams and coaches, a strong development pathway, and an environment where every player feels challenged, supported, and connected to the club.
What excites me most is the potential we have in Northern Colorado. We have great people, ambitious players and coaches, and a growing pathway. If we continue to put development first and build the right culture around our players, I think the future of the club is really exciting.
Q: Anything else we should know about your club?
A: We’re an ambitious club, but we also want to make sure we never lose the community and people-first approach that makes our club special. We want players to come into our environment, enjoy the game, be challenged, feel like they belong, and leave as better players and better people.
There’s a lot of growth happening within City SC NOCO, but for us, success will always be about the experience and development we provide for our players and families. We’re proud to represent Northern Colorado and really excited about what we’re building here.
