City SC x Maximize Soccer FAW Grassroots Leaders Award

City SC was proud to bring together 28 coaches representing eight locations across the City SC Network for the FAW Grassroots Leaders Award through their licensed coach education provider Maximize Soccer, marking another important step in our commitment to high-level coach education and development.

The course is part of City SC’s coach education partnership with Maximize Soccer, a licensed coach education provider for the Football Association of Wales (FAW). The partnership provides City SC coaches with access to the FAW coaching pathway, beginning with introductory courses and the Grassroots Leaders Award and creating a pathway for coaches who may ultimately aspire to pursue UEFA coaching qualifications in Wales.

Following an online learning session in July, participating coaches came together in Carlsbad on August 8 for a full day of in-person education and practical learning. The experience gave coaches the opportunity to expand their knowledge, exchange ideas, and continue developing the skills they bring back to their teams and players.

Investing in Our Coaches

Coach development is an important part of the City SC player development philosophy. By investing in our coaches and providing access to respected international education pathways, we can continue raising coaching standards throughout the City SC Network.

The FA of Wales has developed one of UEFA’s most respected coach education programs, with its pathway attracting coaches from around the world. Through our partnership with Maximize Soccer, City SC coaches now have a unique opportunity to begin that pathway while remaining connected to City SC’s development philosophy and coaching standards.

Just as importantly, bringing 28 coaches from eight City SC locations together creates opportunities for collaboration across the network. Coaches can share experiences, learn from one another, and bring new ideas and valuable learning back to their individual clubs, teams, and players.

Building a Pathway for Continued Development

The Grassroots Leaders Award is not the end of the journey. For coaches interested in continuing their education, completion of the introductory FAW courses and Grassroots Leaders Award can serve as prerequisites toward applying for the UEFA License pathway with the FA of Wales.

Providing opportunities like these reflects City SC’s continued investment in the people responsible for developing our players every day. As the City SC Network continues to grow, creating meaningful pathways for our coaches to learn, connect, and develop will remain a key priority.
