Featured Club: City SC El Paso

This month, we’re proud to spotlight City SC El Paso. We sat down with Tara Vega, City SC El Paso, to learn more about the club’s community, recent successes, and what the future holds as part of the City SC Affiliate Network.

Q: Tell us about your club and community. What makes your club unique, and what are you most proud of as an organization?

A: City SC El Paso is more than a soccer club—we are a community focused on developing confident, hardworking young players both on and off the field. We are proud to provide players throughout the El Paso area with a competitive environment where they can grow, challenge themselves and pursue opportunities at higher levels of the game.

What makes our club special is the strong sense of family within our organization. Our coaches, players, parents and volunteers work together to create an environment centered on commitment, teamwork, respect and personal growth. While we want our teams to succeed on the field, we believe developing great people is just as important as developing great soccer players.

Most of all, we are proud of our players—their dedication, resilience, sportsmanship and willingness to give back. We want every player who comes through City SC El Paso to leave our program as a stronger player, a more confident teammate and a positive member of the community.

We are proud to represent El Paso and excited to continue growing the game for the next generation.

Q: What has been the biggest benefit of being part of the City SC Affiliate Network?

A: The biggest benefit has been the access to greater opportunities, resources and connections for our players, coaches and families.

Being part of the City SC Affiliate Network allows our players to feel connected to something beyond our local club while still maintaining the strong identity and close-knit community we have built in El Paso. It gives them the chance to experience soccer on a broader level and see where their hard work can take them.

Q: Looking back over the past year, what accomplishments or milestones are you most proud of?

A:  We are incredibly proud of the continued growth of our club and the opportunities our players have earned.

One of our biggest milestones has been seeing our teams compete at higher levels, including N1 and DPL, while continuing to strengthen the pathways available to our players. These opportunities reflect the commitment of our coaches, players and families and represent an important step forward for the club.

Q: How has the City SC Network helped create opportunities for your players, coaches, and families?

A:  The City SC Network has connected our local El Paso soccer community to clubs, coaches and players across the country.

Our players have gained access to higher-level training, competition and events, along with opportunities to play alongside other talented City SC players. These experiences challenge them, build confidence and show them that being from El Paso does not limit how far their soccer journey can take them.

For our coaches, the network provides valuable resources, collaboration and opportunities to learn from other coaches and leaders within City SC. They can bring those new ideas and experiences back to their teams and continue improving the environment they create for their players.

For our families, the network offers the opportunity to be part of something bigger while maintaining the close-knit atmosphere of our local club.

Q: What initiatives, events, or experiences has your club hosted or participated in recently that have had a positive impact on your players and community?

A:  Over the past year, our players have participated in several experiences that have made a meaningful impact.

Selected players attended City Connect, where they had the opportunity to train and compete alongside City SC players from across the country. The experience challenged them, strengthened their confidence and gave them a firsthand look at the opportunities available through the City SC pathway.

Community involvement has also become an important part of our club culture. Our teams have participated in local service projects, including volunteering with the Humane Society and helping prepare a local middle school library for students returning to school.

These experiences remind our players that representing City SC El Paso is about more than what they accomplish on the soccer field.

Q: Looking ahead, what are you most excited about for the future of your club and your partnership within the City SC network?

A: We are excited to continue growing City SC El Paso and creating even more opportunities for our players, coaches and families.

Our goal is to keep expanding our competitive pathways so players can challenge themselves at higher levels while proudly representing El Paso. Through our partnership with the City SC Network, we can continue opening doors and bringing new experiences to our local soccer community.

Q: What are your goals and priorities for the upcoming season, and what excites you most about the future of your club?

A: Our priorities for the upcoming season are continued growth, player development and creating meaningful opportunities for every player in our club.

We want to strengthen our teams, continue competing at higher levels and provide clear pathways for players who aspire to take their game further. We will also continue investing in our coaches and building a club culture where families feel connected and proud to be part of City SC El Paso.

Community involvement will remain an important priority because our responsibility goes beyond developing successful soccer players. We also want to develop confident, respectful young leaders.

What excites us most is the potential ahead. We look forward to seeing where the next season takes us and continuing to build a club our players and families are proud to call home.
