Idaho Thunder Soccer Club Joins City SC as Official Affiliate Club

IDAHO THUNDER SOCCER CLUB JOINS CITY SC AS OFFICIAL AFFILIATE CLUB

Carlsbad, CA – April 30, 2026 – City SC is proud to announce Idaho Thunder Soccer Club as the newest member of its growing national network of elite youth soccer organizations. Based in Blackfoot, Idaho, Idaho Thunder will immediately become an official City SC affiliate, becoming the 18th City SC club in the United States and expanding the organization’s footprint into Southeast Idaho.

The club will rebrand as City SC East Idaho in time for the 2026 tryout cycle this June. While Idaho Thunder will operate under its current identity through the transition period, full City SC branding will be implemented ahead of the 2026–27 season. The club’s current website, https://blackfootsoccer.com, will transition to its new home at https://citysceastidaho.com.

This partnership represents a significant step forward for youth soccer in Southeast Idaho, bringing together Idaho Thunder’s strong regional foundation, premier facility access, and central geographic position between Pocatello and Idaho Falls, with City SC’s national platform for player development, coaching education, and club infrastructure.

“At Idaho Thunder, our priority has always been creating the best possible environment for players and families in our region,” said Elias Trejo, City SC East Idaho President. “Joining City SC gives us the structure, support, and long-term pathway to take that mission to the next level. This is about building something bigger for our community — more opportunities, better development, and a clear vision for the future of soccer in East Idaho.”

Steve Cowell, CEO of City Sports Group, commented, “We are excited to welcome Idaho Thunder into the City SC family. This is a club with strong leadership, a great facility, and a unique opportunity to serve a growing region. Our shared focus is simple — invest in players, support coaches, and build sustainable environments where clubs can thrive locally while benefiting from national alignment.”

This partnership comes at a pivotal moment for youth soccer in the region, as structural changes in registration models and league organization create both uncertainty and opportunity. City SC and Idaho Thunder will work together to establish a clear, modern player development pathway, strengthen coaching education, and position the club as the leading destination for youth soccer in Southeast Idaho.

A key focus of the partnership will be expanding opportunities for players across all levels, including a more robust pathway for elite players in the region to access higher levels of competition and development within the broader City SC network.

The club will also benefit from structured coaching development support, including education programs, mentorship, curriculum alignment, and access to City SC’s national coaching network.

“We see this as a defining moment for the region,” added Steve Cowell. “The combination of Idaho Thunder’s local foundation and City SC’s national platform creates something very special — not just for today, but for the next generation of players.”
